Discovered inside shelled mollusks centuries ago, pearls soon conquered the whole world. The fascination of pearl jewelry has seen a revival now. It is difficult not to fall under the spell of real pearls and their incomparable blaze of color. That’s the reason why we use only real cultured pearls for our hand-crafted pearl jewelry, which meets highest quality standards.
Pearl Jewelry – Created by Nature, Consummately Perfect
The value of a pearl depends on five criteria: luster, surface, size and form. Furthermore, pearls are available in many different colors. They depend on the location where the pearls are cultured. The most important types are: Akoya pearls, South Sea pearls, Tahitian pearls and Freshwater pearls.

Important Care Instructions for Pearl Jewelry
To preserve the natural beauty of your pearls, we recommend that you polish them from time to time with a cloth, then clean them carefully with a washing-up liquid and finally rinse them with clear water. Then simply let them dry at room temperature. Keep your pearl jewelry separate from other pieces of jewelry and protect them from heat as this would dry out the upper layer of mother-of-pearl.
Tip: Test your pearl jewelry! Real pearls feel coarse on the tongue while plastic pearls have a smooth surface.
The “play” between the individual pearls on a strand gradually increases over time, so you should have your pearl necklaces inspected once per year. We will completely re-threat your Wempe pearl necklace free of charge for the first five years. Our experts at the Wempe showrooms will be happy to answer any questions you might have about our pearl service or about pearl jewelry in general.
