Fast Track to a High-Tech Future

E-mobility and sports watches made of high-tech materials are the trends of the present. Innovative CAD construction makes technological quantum leaps possible – and wearing comfort also knows no bounds. Let’s go!

On a Large or Small Scale.
State-of-the-Art Technology Blazes the Trail.

Technical developments are taken for granted nowadays. However, the greatest achievements were often reached by taking many tiny steps. Progress is comparable to the toothed wheels in a watch, which only move forward when they perfectly mesh one into the other. The electric car was already invented more than a hundred years ago, but the technology for rechargeable batteries is only mature now – as in the electric motorcycle from Zero Motorcycles shown below. Mechanical wristwatches are the small-scale example of progress with great impact. The breakthrough of the modern wristwatch was triggered by Hans Wilsdorf. He combined shock absorbers, water-resistant cases, and sturdy self-winding movements and refined them to perfection.

The Ulysse Nardin Freak X

Launched in 2001, the predecessor of the Ulysse Nardin Freak X 43 mm with 8-day carrousel tourbillon is considered as a milestone in watchmaking. The fascinating caroussel movement indicates time through the rotation of the movement. The entire movement is mounted on the front side, above the dial, and does without hands.

Designed on the Computer – Made for People

The latest, futuristic-looking timepieces reflect the considerably increased possibilities of designing and refining entire mechanism on the computer, which have been developed over the past decade. Models such as the Ulysse Nardin Freak X with a flying caroussel movement or the entirely skeletonized Excalibur movement from Roger Dubuis would be impossible to manufacture without CAD applications and CNC milling machines.

From Zero to Hundred in Just Above 3 Seconds

Electric motorcycles like the Zero SR/F cannot only compete with their combustion engine colleagues, but offer also a completely new dimension of driving pleasure and acceleration.

Watches that Speed Up to the Top Position

The DNA of the TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre Heuer 02 GMT is deeply rooted in motorsports. On the occasion of the 55th anniversary of its racing-inspired Carrera series, Tag Heuer presented the watch for the first time with the 02 manufacture caliber equipped with a GMT function and a classic arrangement of the counters. A stainless-steel diver’s watch with a shark-gray dial and three days of power reserve: The Panerai Submersible is reminiscent of a model from the 1950s that was developed for the Egyptian navy.

The Wempe Glashütte Zeitmeister Chronograph was presented in 2019 in a limited edition of 50 pieces made of ultralight, scratch-resistant high-tech ceramic. The luminous mass has a desert sand color, which is reminiscent of the patina of Wempe aviator chronometers from the 1940s. Its striking design makes the Breitling Avenger Chronograph 43 a true eye-catcher. This extremely sturdy timepiece is shock-resistant and stands for maximum safety. It can even be operated while wearing gloves.

High Tech and Handcraft

The Roger Dubuis Excalibur 42 Skeleton Automatic – what was painstakingly skeletonized afterwards by hand in former days is now computer-designed in advance. However, as it applies for all watches from this manufacture, all 167 movement components of this black-coated titanium watch are refined by hand.

Progress Presenting Itself in a Classic Design

The maritime heritage of the Breguet manufacture goes back to the year 1815 when Abraham-Louis Breguet was appointed watchmaker of the French navy. The completely revised Marine collection was presented three years ago. As all models of this series, the Breguet Marine Chronograph 5527 in a white gold case is water-resistant to 100 meters, and all guilloche patterns on the real gold dial are engraved by hand.

Just like in the 1970s, when it seemed unthinkable that steel watches would become luxury items, modern materials such as titanium, carbon fiber, or high-tech ceramic often do not reveal yet their future collection potential. But one thing is certain: when the right moment has come, people will say: they were ahead of their time. And the time to realize that is here and now. Come and visit us at one of our showrooms – we will be glad to provide you with personal advice on the presented watch models.
